Getting Here

Public Transport


  • The closest train station in Southern Cross Station. The Museum is a short walk (7-10 minutes) from Southern Cross Station.

Walking Directions

  • From Southern Cross Train Station, walk down Spencer Street towards Flinders Street.
  • At the Corner of Spencer and Flinders Street, cross Flinders Street and turn right into Flinders Street.
  • At the next set of traffic lights, cross these and turn left.
  • The World Trade Centre is in front of you. Head towards it and go through the sliding doors.
  • Take the escalator, lift (press M) or stairs up one level. The Museum is located directly in front of you to the left of the escalators (you are on the Mezzanine Level of the World Trade Centre).

Catching a Tram

  • Catch the free City Circle Tram or numbers 70 or 75 to
    stop D6 Flinders St West.
  • Catch the 12, 96 or 109 trams to
    stop 124 Batman Park

Both of the above stops are within the Free Tram Zone which operates in the CBD. If your journey originates within the zone, your travel to the Museum will be free. See Yarra Trams website for more details -


There are two public car parks with limited paid parking located in Siddeley Street.


The Museum is fully accessible to visitors with wheelchairs, walking frames or prams via lifts on the ground floor of the World Trade Centre, located on Siddeley Street.

The museum has some areas with lower light levels to preserve precious collection, however all efforts have been made to ensure lighting optimises visibility. Museum text is at standard display size. Magnifying sheets and LED torches are available for people with low vision from the museum desk.
